Kidney Nutrition Notes

Where Kidney Science meets Your Kitchen Table

About the Author

Hi All, I’m Stephanie Suhai, MS,RD,CSR!

I believe that a kidney disease diagnosis shouldn’t mean the end of enjoying food.

With over 16 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian, I’ve spent the bulk of my career in the clinical trenches- from dialysis centers to complex medical coordination. My journey in nutrition has always been driven by a single goal: taking the “scary” out of the renal diet.

Why I Focused on Kidney Health

Nutrition for kidney health is often called one of the most restrictive and confusing diets in the medical world. I’ve seen firsthamd how overwhelming it can be to navigate phsophorus, potassium, protein and fluid goals all at once.

As a Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition, I’ve dedicated my career to mastering these complexities so that you don’t have to. My mission is to translate “doctor speak,” and complicated labs values into practical, delicious, and manageable “notes,” you can use in your daily life.

My Philosophy: “Notes” Over “Rules”

I names this blog Kidney Nutrition Notes because health isn’t about following a rigid rule book- it’s about learning the notes that make your body hum. Whether you are in the early stages of CKD, managing dialysis, or looking for ways to protect your transplant, I’m here to provide:

  • Evidence-based insights that cut through the internet noise.
  • Patient-centered strategies build from over a decade of direct clinical practice.
  • Encouragement to help you feel empowered, not restricted.

Beyond the White Coat

When I’m not analyzing lab trends or writing for the blog, you can usually find me staying active. I’m a fan of cardio kickboxing, running, and hiking. I also find my “zen” in the garden, working on various arts and crafts projects, or singing with my community choir. I live in New Jersey with my husband and our very opinionated cat,

I am so glad you’re here. Let’s make kidney health feel alot more like a lifestyle and alot less like a shore.
